Delete your Genie account

Last updated: 3 September 2026

You can permanently delete your Genie account and every piece of data we hold about you at any time. There are two ways to do it.

1. From inside the app (instant)

If you still have the app installed and can sign in:

  1. Open Genie.
  2. Go to Settings.
  3. Tap Delete account.
  4. Confirm.

This is immediate. Your account row and every transaction, SMS, account, and category linked to it are removed from our server right away. No manual review, no follow-up email.

2. By email (if you can't use the app)

If you've uninstalled the app, lost your device, or can't sign in for any other reason, email us and we'll do it for you.

Subject: Delete my account

Include: Your 16-digit Genie account number. We use this to find your row — it's the only identifier we hold.

We will delete your account and all associated data within 30 days. In practice it's usually done the same day.

We do not ask for any further identity verification because we do not collect any other identity to verify against. The 16-digit number is the entire credential.

Connected agents and provider copies

If you connected Genie to an AI agent, you chose the external agent provider. The finance:read scope transfers the finance records permitted by the connected tools. The optional sms:read scope transfers the complete stored SMS bodies and related metadata requested by that agent. The optional offline_access scope allows future retrieval of authorized data with a refresh token.

Deleting your account removes the connected agents' Genie grants, authorization codes, access tokens, refresh tokens, and related OAuth state. Genie cannot control the provider's retention or erase copies the provider already received. Revoking a connection stops future Genie access, but it does not erase those provider copies.

What gets deleted

Standard server logs of API requests (timestamp, request path, HTTP status — no SMS bodies, account numbers, or tokens) are kept for 30 days and then automatically deleted.
